As music industry companies become flatter, faster, and more operationally compressed, leadership capability is becoming harder to identify before critical promotion and people decisions are made. Traditional development environments often reveal very little about how people actually communicate, collaborate, navigate ambiguity, or operate under pressure. 

SongShift was created to address that gap.

We design experiential, cohort-based leadership programmes that place teams inside structured, participatory environments where communication patterns, decision-making behaviour, people management instincts, and collaboration dynamics become more visible in practice, not just in theory.

By creating environments that more closely resemble the realities of modern music industry teams, SongShift helps organisations strengthen both leadership capability and visibility into how people actually operate when the stakes are real.

Brandon Kirby

Founder

Brandon Kirby founded SongShift after years working across leadership development, executive education, marketing, entrepreneurship, and the music business.
 

Professionally, his background includes leadership roles within international education and global brand organisations, where he worked across cross-functional teams, founded companies, and designed development experiences for professionals operating in complex organisational environments.

Alongside this work, Brandon facilitated leadership sessions, communication programmes, and executive learning experiences focused on helping teams navigate ambiguity, collaboration, accountability, and organisational change more effectively. Over time, this work reinforced a consistent observation: many traditional development environments revealed very little about how people actually communicate, collaborate, or lead when conditions become pressured, ambiguous, or fast-moving.

Alongside his organisational leadership experience, Brandon has remained deeply involved in the music business as a label founder, promoter, DJ, producer, mentor, and creative operator. That experience created firsthand understanding of the realities modern music organisations navigate daily: fast execution cycles, evolving priorities, relationship-driven work, and the constant tension between creative and commercial performance.
 

Having worked across both organisational leadership and the music business, Brandon created SongShift to help organisations more effectively identify, develop, and strengthen future leadership capability within music industry organisations and teams.
